SUPPORT FUKUSHIMA KIDS

Thank you for visiting our website! You can support children of Fukushima by sharing this site.

What we do and How to help

We invited children from Fukushima to Hawai'i (Kona) to let them experience a healthy respite from radiation exposure. You can support the children by participating our events, financial contribution, volunteering, transporting, planning a fundraising event, or just sharing this site!  Your donation is tax deductible.

Summer and Winter Program

10 children and two chaperon are coming during their summer and winter vacations each year.  We are always looking for host families who can host the children (or a child) for one week or so. We also need cars and drivers who can help us to move around in the Big Island of Hawaii for daily activities.

Fukushima Kids Hawaii House
We now have opened a shelter with 4 bedrooms for babies and mothers of Fukushima all year round in Kona. They can come and stay up to 3 months as long as space is available.  Keeping and managing the house costs $2,000 per month and your generous giving is appreciated so that we can host mothers and children in need of a break from the radiation exposure.

Why We Need To Invite Fukushima Kids to Kona?

Because there are 300,000 children living in Fukushima and 33 had their thyroid remived from cancer after March 11, 2011 nuclear disaster.  40 more with thyroid cancer are waiting for the operation. This rate is incredibly high.  Children are more susceptible to radiation and Japan's new permissible level of radiation in the air, 20mSV/year, is 20 times higher than the interntional standard.

Giving them a break from radiation exposure is beneficial to their health and the healing power of Hawai’i can really help them.

We are looking for sponsors who can help the small children to fly from Fukushima to Kona, who want to stay at Fukushima Kids Hawaii house. Their family is struggling to pay for airfare. Please contact us if you wish to sponsor a child with monetary or air miles contributions.

Please consider donating to my friend Yumi Kikuchi's crowd funding campaign. This will help bring children from Fukushima to Hawaii each year. Not only does this project give Fukushima Kids a chance to recuperate, but it also provides them with an excellent educational opportunity, especially in the forms of farming and cultural immersion. It will be an unforgettable healing experience for the children, and be surely meaningful for the world as we nurture the leaders of the next generation.
